Chapter 5031 of USA Dance and Louisiana DanceSport invite you to join us for a weekend dancing extravaganza, “A Gumbo of Ballroom.” The competition events will take place at the beautiful Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza, 4728 Constitution Avenue, Baton Rouge, Louisiana the weekend of June 25-27, 2010.
The USA Dance Gumbo DanceSport Championships, an all amateur competition is scheduled to begin Friday, June 25 and conclude June 26. This is a USA DanceSport sanctioned competition and a National Qualifying Event for the 2011 National Championships. 2010 is the 6th year our group has held a National Qualifying Event. The competition is hosted by Chapter 5031 of USA Dance and organized by Louisiana DanceSport. On June 27, Louisiana DanceSport plays host to the Louisiana Challenge, a pro-am competition which includes championship events for those who really like the thrill of competition! This will be the 11th anniversary of the Louisiana Challenge.
A Hospitality Suite manned by volunteers is open to competitors both Friday and Saturday afternoons. Two workshops are planned Friday evening following the competitive events and the evening concludes with a Welcome Dance. After the day time competition on Saturday, all dancers come together for an evening banquet, followed by the Gumbo DanceSport Adult Championship finals. The evening concludes with a fun social dance. For the Saturday evening festivities bring your after five attire and don’t forget your dance shoes.
Scholarships will be awarded throughout the weekend of competition, thanks to the generosity of corporate and individual sponsors. We invite you to become a scholarship sponsor and join us in promoting ballroom dancing through the awarding of scholarships to deserving amateurs who work hard at their sport. All sponsors will be formally recognized in our event program. Donations are tax deductible, as USA Dance and Louisiana DanceSport are both qualified under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).
Over the last ten years, our group of 100+ volunteers has earned a reputation of being gracious and warm hosts who love the competitive aspects of ballroom dancing and strive to see that our participants enjoy the experience. One of our guiding principles is to provide a quality and fun atmosphere for all to participate, from the beginning dancer to the most advanced dancer, as well as the enthused spectator. Yes, we love our spectators and reward them with gifts for their enthusiasm and support of our dancing couples. So, bring your “cheerleaders” and join us in Baton Rouge June 25-27, 2010 and experience Southern hospitality Louisiana style. We would love to be included on your 2010 dancing calendar!
