Donors Make it Possible to Stage a Quality Event
By Ann Durocher-Steven and Cecil Phillips

A quality event the size of the Gumbo of Ballroom weekend cannot be put on without the financial support of individuals, businesses and the community.  Both USA Dance and Louisiana DanceSport are recognized as tax-exempt charities and, when planning this year’s event, a budget was established with a goal of $14,000 of charitable contributions.  When requested for contributions, individuals and organizations responded.  The total of all their donations set a new record for the Gumbo of Ballroom weekend, coming in at $15,335.
